Ayra Starr Becomes Fourth Female Artist to Top Afrobeats Power Ranking

Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayra Starr has made history by topping the Afrobeats Power Ranking for August 2026, becoming the fourth female artist to claim the No. 1 position since the monthly chart was introduced.

With this remarkable achievement, she displaces Nigerian superstar Burna Boy from the summit, securing the top spot for the first time in her career.

Before Ayra Starr’s latest achievement, three other female artists had reached the top of the ranking. South African singer Tyla was the first, claiming the No. 1 position in February 2025 before returning to the summit in December 2025. Ghanaian-American singer Moliy achieved the feat in July 2025, while Nigerian singer Tems topped the ranking twice, in September 2025 and February 2026.

Ayra Starr’s impressive rise followed the release of her third studio album, Starrgirl, on August 14, 2026. The project contributed significantly to her success, driven by its strong streaming performance across multiple tracks.

One of the standout records from the album is her collaboration with British singer ZAYN, titled “Heaven Baby.” The song reportedly amassed over 937,000 daily streams on Spotify at its peak and debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official British Asian Music Chart.

Furthermore, the Mavin Records superstar remains one of the most internationally recognised female Afrobeats artists of her generation. She earned two Grammy nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards, including a nomination for Best New Artist.

This latest milestone further highlights Ayra Starr’s growing influence and remarkable success in the global music industry.
